BOILER SYSTEM TREATMENTS:
CHEM PRO offers every type of treatment required to protect steam boiler systems. These treatments range from pre-boiler oxygen scavengers, through boiler water inhibitors and conditioners, to after-boiler steam and condensate treatments.
CHEM PRO 2800 SERIES Condensate Treatments
Electrochemical corrosion within steam and condensate portions of a boiler system result from two primary causes: 1. Presence of oxygen; 2. Attack by carbonic acid. Repairs of corroded steam and condensate piping can be expensive. However a more significant problem results from corrosion products producing deposits on heat transfer surfaces when returned to the boiler.
The principal treatments used to control corrosion of steam and condensate return lines are a group of organic compounds known as amines. Two types of amines are utilized: 1. Filming amines which produce a nonwettable barrier on the metal surface, 2. Neutralizing amines which have the basicity to neutralize carbonic acid. In addition to amines we also use certain volatile oxygen scavengers that have the ability to passivate metals, and fatty amino acid products for plants where amine compounds are unsuitable. All of these treatments have their pros and cons. Choosing the proper regimen should be left to an experienced water treatment professional.
CHEM PRO has the expertise to design a program for your particular system.
